Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception
December 8

On December 8, the Church celebrates the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation. This feast proclaims our belief that Mary, from the very first moment of her life, was preserved by God’s grace from original sin. In this way, she was prepared to be the pure and holy Mother of Jesus, our Savior.
The Immaculate Conception reminds us of God’s loving plan for salvation and Mary’s unique role in it. As we honor her, we are invited to reflect on the gift of grace in our own lives and to follow her example of faithful trust in God.
