PREP – Parish Religious Education Program
What is PREP?
The Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) provides faith formation for children who attend public school but are baptized in the Catholic Church. Through weekly classes, students grow in their understanding of scripture, Catholic teachings, prayer, and the sacramental life of the Church.
PREP helps children develop a strong foundation in the Catholic faith and prepares them to receive important sacraments.
Who Should Enroll?
PREP is for children who:
- Are baptized Catholic
- Attend public or non-Catholic schools
- Are in grades 1-8
- Need preparation for sacraments

What Your Child Will Learn
Students in PREP learn about:
- The life and teachings of Jesus
- The Bible and salvation history
- Catholic prayer and traditions
- Living the faith through service and virtue
- The meaning of the sacraments
Sacramental Preparation
Children in PREP typically prepare for:
- First Reconciliation
- First Eucharist
- Confirmation
Program Format
- Weekly or regular classes at the parish
- Age-appropriate lessons
- Catechist-led instruction
- Opportunities for prayer and parish participation
Parent Role
Parents are the primary teachers of the faith, and PREP works in partnership with families to support children in their faith journey.
