OCIA – Order of Catholic Initiation for Adults
What is OCIA?
The Order of Catholic Initiation for Adults (OCIA) is the process through which adults learn about the Catholic faith and prepare to become members of the Catholic Church.
It is a journey of faith that included prayer, study, discussion, and participation in parish life.
Who Should Participate?
OCIA is for adults who:
- Have not been baptized
- Were baptized in another Christian denomination
- Are baptized Catholic but have not received Confirmation or Eucharist
Anyone interested in learning more about the Catholic faith is welcome.
What to Expect
Participants meet regularly for:
- Scripture and teaching
- Discussion and questions
- Prayer and reflection
- Community support
There is no pressure or obligation to join the Church.
Sacramental of Initiation
Those entering the Church usually receive:
- Baptism (if not already baptized)
- Confirmation
- Eucharist
These sacraments are typically celebrated during the Easter Vigil.
